Welcome to Trauma Headquarters!

Trauma Headquarters is the home of the Attachment Disorder Support Group (ADSG).  Trauma Headquarters and ADSG share the same message forum

If you have a child with a DSM IV diagnosis, then chances are your child also suffers from trauma.  If you have a child diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder, then I am sure your child also suffers from trauma and/or an anxiety related disorder!  By the time a parent finds this site, many of the parents have been traumatized and are suffering from trauma as well.

Many of the children are also diagnosed with ODD, Bipolar, Asperger, autism, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and the list goes on!

Trauma can be emotional or physical. This site primarily deals with emotional trauma.  Trauma is any stressful event that is prolonged, overwhelming, or unpredictable.

You will find families that have adopted children, foster children, step children, and biological children.  Many of the children will have multiple diagnoses.

I hope you enjoy your visit.

"You did not choose Me, but I chose you."
John 15:16

Did you know??

If you remain in high stress situations for a long time the body forgets what to do when out of the stress.  You must re-teach your body what to do and how to calm.  This is an involuntary function of the nervous system.

Fear Leads to Anger

What does Star Wars have to do with raising special needs children?

Connecting with Others
A crucial part of obtaining help and support is making friends with others and building your support network.

Did you know:

SCARED PEOPLE DO SCARY THINGS!

DESPERATE PEOPLE DO DESPERATE THINGS!

Fear and Love

Fear Based Feelings Love Based Feelings
angry, hostile, shameful, frustrated, envious, jealous, scared happy, joyful, glad, excited, proud, confident
Fear Based Behaviors Love Based Behaviors
lying, stealing, hoarding, gorging, aggression, defiance, arguing, screaming smiling, conscience, empathy, reciprocity, obedience, motivation, compliance, helpful
If your child is doing any of the above behaviors, then you know your child, at that moment is afraid and is acting out of fear.. If your child is doing any of the above behaviors, then you know your child, at that moment is not afraid and is able to love.
